Frequently asked question
Is Class IV laser therapy safe?
Class IV laser therapy is non-invasive and FDA-cleared as a medical device, and serious side effects are rare. It is not right for everyone, so Dr. Pamer reviews your history and exam before recommending it, and protective eyewear is used during sessions.
The main risks are related to specific situations rather than the treatment itself: laser therapy is generally not applied over the abdomen during pregnancy, over certain tumors, or in people with some light-sensitive conditions or medications. These are screened for before treatment.
You remain awake and comfortable during sessions, which are short, and there is no downtime. If the exam shows laser therapy is not appropriate for you, Dr. Pamer will recommend another approach.
